Jim Thompson Disappearance from this house - a walking trip from MBK Cen...

Walking from MBK Mall to Mr. Thompson House

After spending a quality time at the MBK Mall, we left from the mall at 4:00 PM. MBK mall is a 8 story mall. It took us 4 hours to see the mall.
In the evening around 4 PM, I started my journey to Mr. Thompson House, which was on a walking distance from the MBK mall i.e. it was 1.25 kilometers, for me it’s a walking distance always.
Because I am a budget traveler, I intensely skipped my visit to Sea Life Museum, which is very close to the mall. I decided to walk and go to Mr. Thompson House Museum, which I thought must be free, but this museum is also ticketed some 100 Bhat.
Mr. Thompson, who was an American Businessmen and an Architect collected various Thai paintings, South Asian Arts from Chine, Cambodia, Laos, Burma. He used to travel to various countries on his buying trips.
In 1958, he made a huge house of almost half an acre, to showcase his art of collections. This house is consisting of 6 different houses. He converted it into a museum and use to live on a Kiong (Canal) with the weavers, who used to weave silk for his silk factory he started in 1948.

Timings are 10 Am to 6:00 PM

I was late, so couldn’t go inside the museum, but could click the glimpse of Ticket Windows, Main and Sub Main Gate, Restaurant and few more places. Hope, you would like to see them all.
Mr. Thompson House Museum to Temple of Emerald Buddha
While Coming back, o thought to board the boat, rather than walking back, also there was a reason, the next sightseeing location was on the bank of same Canal, so I decided to travel by Boat, when I reached at the Stop, was looking for someone to take the payment, but there no one asked for money.
A Guard of the Canal informed me in English that its free because of the king’s celebration for 3rd, 4th and 5th May,19.
This is how I could have a Free Boat Journey.
This Boat ride is fun. I wish in our country we could have some canals with such boat rides.
Temple of Emerald Buddha to Patpong Street by Bus
My Day came to the end. Took a bus to reach Patpong street, which is the oldest hub of Thailand Sex life, so see it, visit my channel and subscribe.
This is the story of my Bus ride and Google Map Problem again.

Khlong Saen Saep - Pratunam

Khlong Saen Saep (Thai: คลองแสนแสบ, IPA: [kʰlɔ̄ːŋ.sɛ̌ːn.sɛ̀ːp]) is a canal (khlong) in central Thailand, connecting the Chao Phraya River to Prachinburi Province and Chachoengsao. A portion of the canal is used for public transport by an express boat service in Bangkok. The 72 km long canal passes through 21 districts and is connected to more than 100 smaller canals.[1][2]

How many canals are there in Bangkok?

Khlongs in Bangkok

As of 2019 there are 1,682 canals in Bangkok, totaling 2,604 kilometers in length.
Known as the “Venice of the East,” Bangkok is a city that truly beats to the rhythm of the Chao Phraya River. Named by King Rama I as “The River of Kings,” the Chao Phraya River cuts through the heart of Bangkok. ... Taking to the water when visiting the city is a must.Oct 1, 2013
Khlong San Saep or San Saep Canal, located in Central of Thailand, helps to connect the Chao Phraya River to other river in Chachoengsao and Prachinburi province. In Bangkok, there is a public transportation express boat service along Khlong San Saep as an alternative way to avoid heavy traffic in the city center. Even though there are over hundred of sub-canal connecting to San Saep Canal, but most of them do not have transportation like their main canal.
The construction of San Saep Canal took 3 years to finished, since it was built in 1837 in the King Rama III reign. The purpose of building Khlong San Saep was to be a route for water and weapons for Thai soldiers during the war between Siam and Vietnam, known as Annam-Siam War. Then, the King Rama IV or King Mongkut has built Sa Pathum Palace. Its name “Wang Sa Pathum”, means Lotus Pond Palace, was derived from many of lotus plants in Khlong San Saep at that time. Pathum Wan District Name also came from it.
Although Khlong San Saep is served as an alternative transportation channel, water quality in Khlong San Saep is not good. Many of garbage and wasted water are released to Khlong San Saep from shops, food stalls, people living by the canals, or even the boat passenger. The government attempts to clean the canal mamy times but water in Klong San Saep is still dirty and have unpleasant smell.
Despite its polluted water, Khlong San Saep is one of an interesting boat travelling. During the float along Khlong San Saep, you will see many different kinds of architecture in many neighborhoods. Every area has its own culture and identity, for example, over hundreds years vintage style wooden houses elevated from the ground which extended its balcony into the canal.

Vegetarian V/S Non-Vegetarian Life in Bangkok, Thailand, Options for Veg...

This is the video explaining the challenges a vegetarian traveler faces in Bangkok, Thailand and more countries like them.
I am explaining the Price difference between Veg and Non Vegetarian Food, Vegetables, Fruits in MBK Mall.
You will see how I concluded that in the price of 2 apples, how you can buy 350 grams of Pork Meat, 450 Grams of Beef and Chicken.
I also explained how Capsicum prices are 3 to 4 times higher than the price of Beef, Mear, Chicken and Pork.
At the same time, while sharing the price, I am also taking you thru the story of a duo of Brother and sister, who were travelling with me, What kind of different ideas they experimented with while travelling to Bangkok.
And How convenient is the life of a traveler like me, who consider food a biological need rather than something has to do with mind and soul. How my philosophy tells me that its just a food and human body has nothing much to do with the process of digesting a veg and non-veg food.
I intend to be a traveler since I was a child in a very young age, almost 8th standard and I was mentally prepared to eat anything of everything while travelling around the world. Though Its been only 2 to 3 years since when I am eating non-vegetarian food that too very occasionally basis on the availability.
The benefit to having the philosophy of food is for survival only, I am open to eat anything. Like on this trip to Thailand I am eating Pork , Red Meat and Crab for the first time and I don’t find much difference.
Papaya Salad with Sticky rice and Mango with sticky rice, also can be a good alternate for Veg Food.
By making this episode, we are not saying that Veg food is not available in Thailand, Its available but only thing is ‘ Its very-very costly for a budget travelers like me and others.

THAILAND: Free Visa on Arrival till April 2020 |Visa Documentation| Tour...

THAILAND: Free Visa on Arrival till April 2020 |Visa Documentation| Tourist 4G SIM | Episode 1

Flight Ticket:

Booking flight ticket from India to Thailand price depends on when we book it. Booking in advance could be economical. We booked the ticket in Feb,19 and travelling schedule was of May,19.
Recommend, if you are not short of time, reach Kolkata and book a flight from there it will be in juts INR 7500 t0 8000 with return.
We booked from Delhi via Kolkata, it costed us 18000. I had to do it because my sister wanted to carry lots of clothes, so we wanted an option with 25 kg weight limit also, she was having a tight schedule, so we suppose to save time.

Hotel Booking:

These days I prefer to use Booking.com App. We booked a Hostel named “Rest Inn” with private room for 3 of us. 450 INR per person per night. After that, we booked a hotel in Pattaya in INR 1200 on triple sharing basis.
We also experimented with another hostel at an isolated city known as “Hua Hin” and paid only 500 Bath for each again having a private room with AC.
BTW, All the accommodation were AC.

How to get Currency converted:

1. Basis on the information shared by a youtuber, I left a request on a website and they contacted me for the currency conversion. It was the economical option, until my brother visited Paul Merchants office in the neighborhood.
2. Below is the rate difference:
a. Online they were charging 15 paise on each bath, SO total was 1 Bath = 2.18 (That day currency rate) + 15 Paisa = 2.33 INR
b. At Paul Merchant I paid for 1 bath = 2.18 + .7 paisa = 2.25 INR
Basis on this experience of mine, I suggest Paul Merchants, they are almost in all the cities and all the neighborhood.
Only thing is, online I was getting an option of home delivery and here I had to visit this place with my passport and PAN card.

VISA Process:

We carried printouts of below mentioned documents –
1. Passport
2. Print out of Flight Return Ticket
3. Print out of Hotel Booking for first destination
4. 10,000 Bath
Time Taken in VISA Process:
Because whole flight came and stood up at the Visa Counter, so it was crowded and had a long ques. It took us 2 to 3 hours to complete the process.

Step by Step process of getting VISA:
1. Reach on the counter and find Visa on Arrival Form (Need not to carry along, few downloaded the form from internet and were carrying the printout)
2. Fill the form with minimum simplest information like name, Age, Date of Birth, Address on passport, Hotel Address, Time from and to etc.
3. Attach the copy of the documents mentioned 1. Flight Ticket prints 2. Hotel Booking print
4. Also, in the flight at Kolkata, you will get Departure Card from the flight staff itself, fill it and attached it too.
5. Submit these documents along with passport at the Visa Counter as per your turn
6. They will ask you to show the money, show it and keep it back in your pocket.
7. You will get a toke on submission of these documents
8. Collect it and go inside, sit and wait for the announcement for your token number
9. Collect your Stamped Passport at the counter after submitting the token
10. Reach at “Immigration” counter
11. Show them your passport and hand over them “Departure Card” which you received in the flight. Ensure its filled
12. They will tear off one part and hand over second to you
13. Keep it safe, you need to show it to the flight counter, to get your return boarded pass while returning.
We got the VISA and now we were at the Baggage line, our bags were already there. We picked and started planning the journey further.

Mobile SIM Cards:

To access the google map, book cab and to see the metro route, we required internet access. For that only option was to buy a SIM Card.
I made up my mind to buy AIS Sim card, as I saw on a YouTube channel. When I reached there and being from the telecom sector, I realized that AIS is like BSNL in India. Customer un-friendly plans.
1. AIS - 299 bath, 50 Bhat Talk time, 1 Mbps speed on a 4G SIM with unlimited Data Access.
2. True Choice SIM – 299 bath – 100 Bath Talk time, 8 days validity 3 GB Data
3. Data Tech – 299 Bath, 35 Bath Talk time, 8 days validity with 8.5 GB Data.
I bought Data win and was happy.
It has good network and service in major cities of Thailand, not sure about interiors.
This way we became ready to stem inside the city Bangkok.

Remain Part on Next Episode of Thailand Series.

Thailand- Bangkok Hotel in INR 140 per night only, Travel Adopter No Need – Episode -3 - Thailand

Remember where we left? In Episode 2 of Thailand Series.
It was a question about what the meaning of Swarn Bhumi is. which is the name of Bangkok Airport just like Indra Gandhi International Airport in Delhi.
Lots of coconut were fallen on his head. and he was not able to think and tell.
I asked about his name.
He replied – it’s impossible to tell in English? Really? We asked surprisingly. Yeah! He said
We kept putting efforts… to know the spellings of his name.
Then he said – you listen and tell me, how he should speak his name and what should be the spellings of his name
He opened YouTube and played with some video.
After listen to that I confirmed that yes! You can start your name with A, alphabet.
I was shocked when I saw on his mobile screen.
It was a frog making “Turrrrr Turrrr sound” which was like “Rap rap rap…” where “r” was silent, and it was sounding like “Arp Arp Arp….”
What a strange name… isn’t it?

We kept laughing. To be the part of this funny and full of comedy conversation. watch this video in episode 3 of Thailand Series.
This is not the only thing, there were so many funny conversations like frog meat and tip etc.

He informed us that its Rama the 10th King ceremony and the place where we are staying will be closed for few days and we need to walk to get any cab or bus.

And he was right, of the 3rd day we all had to walk more than 5 kilometers with our bags.
We reached our hotel in some time and paid him 200 Bhat and exchanged our numbers.

Hotel accommodation is decent. We booked it online thru Booking.com app.
Paid 1140 Baths for 2 nights and 3 days. It was a private room with total 4 dome beds and yes it was with a AC.
Cost per head was only INR 140 per night. Which was really good price for a budget traveler like me.

Myth / confusion of Universal Travel Adopter.

I paid 200 rupees to buy it from India only. This travel adopter is required only if you have something which has 3 Pin plugs. For 2 pins plus like mobile charges etc., this travel adaptor is not required.
So, need not to invest your money on this travel adaptor.
Also, this evening, we are going to see “Phra Sumen Fort” which is nearby to our hostel.
See the video, to know how amazing this place is. It’s because of the river and colors on that day.
