Snowfall In Hemkund Sahib After 20 Years In June Month - Trek Starts fro...

Hemkund, also pronounced as Hemkunt stands for Hem – ice and
Kund – bowl. The Gurdwara situated in Uttrakhand is 15000 feet above the sea
level in the Himalayan range is a famous center of pilgrimage for not just
Sikhs but thousands of devotees of all religions. According to the
autobiographic account of the tenth Guru, Guru Gobind Singh Ji, he meditated
over this place in his previous birth.

In 1930 this place was re-discovered after 200 years during
these years it was buried under snow.

It has 7 hills and a Kund of 5 kms area in the center.

I visited Sri Hemkund Sahib in June month and witnessed the
snowfall, which happened after 20 years in the month of june, Last time it
happened in 1999.

Watch Snow and Snowfall videos of the trek. This is part one
of the series I have covered 3.5 kilometres of  total  6
kilometres. I started from Ghangeria Village and last night we stayed at
Govinddham gurudwara. It was Free of Cost stay including food and tea. You
simply get a slip made as per your choice of any amount.

Its raining during the trek so I am dressed up in a strange
outfit with so many drops on camera lens. I cleared tried to keep it clear, but
you know the rain drops. They are always there.

Snow fall started the moment we reached 3 kilometres from the
start point.
